UNDERSTATED ELEGANT DINING ROOM, Larchmont, NY: Drawing inspiration from the majestic 1920s stone home and the homeowner's refined yet understated taste, a high-functioning yet elegant everyday dining room was designed. Custom-designed leaded-glass casement windows replaced existing nonfunctioning windows creating the architectural interest and focal point the room deserved, as well as connecting to the linear detail of the homeowner's light fixture. Soft graphic drapery and valance frame the windows, while a custom-designed radiator cover with storage and a marble slab top becomes a buffet for entertaining. The relaxed, yet well-appointed dining room employs a sophisticated neutral gray, taupe and teal color palette with a touch of European styling. A sliding-door bookcase with teal interior showcases dishware and hides linen storage. The clean-lined dining table and curved back chairs with textured fabric look ready for either a formal evening or family dinner.
